The Tumbler

The steps for making a basic tumbler.

Gather
Marver
Hold up to let glass ball up
Marver
Blow - Cap the pipe and let bubble blow up to the end of the glass
Swing
Puff
High end Marver to taper the bubble

Heat
Pinch the end
Pull outward with diamond shears while partner is blowing
Jack on the body to control bubble growth and lift - Partner is blowing
- turn very fast
Heat
Jack the neck
Jacks on the body as partner blows.
Blow up piece to straight wall
Heat - The heat on the bottom occurs when the bottom curve of the piece is inside the door. Be sure to go in deep enough (not just the very bottom of the piece)
Paddle the Bottom - Partner is blowing, another partner is holding paddle tight on the bottom. Jacks on body of the piece and making a real tight line.
- Jacks start firm by riding the shoulder of the piece for stability. This will burn your hand but it is necessary to be that close. Turn fast.

Transfer to punty
Fast heat (five seconds, real deep heat too)
Straighten piece
- find high spot on bottom. Pause the turn. with tweezers, lift and angle the piece and push downward to force a move to straighten the piece.
Heat the lip
Tweeze outward on the lip
Jack a line in the clean glass
partner blows on the line with sophie
Hold like with shears
Partner bonks off that piece of glass
Heat
Jacks on inside to open
Heat
Jacks on inside to open
-remember Turn Slowly in the Glory Hole, Turn Real Fast at the bench
Jacks on outside to straighten piece. Start way back on glass with the jacks to create a stable surface.

Build Up Heat
Heat - wait 3 seconds - Heat - Wait 3 seconds.
-Top of piece does not move. Movement begins in the punty connection.
Drop of water onto the punty
knock off using a wooden paddle
