I am doing three gathers on an ornament pipe. Color on the second gather.
Blow it out and get some good length in the piece.
Set the neck jack line a bit.
Heat and jack about the last third of the piece. Jack this tight and blow it round. It takes about three heats to get a good tight line.
I have been using the Palmer footing tool. Get a good heat on just the bottom bulb. Squeeze gently with the footing tool. It seems to make a good foot.
Transfer and open up the piece. I have been trying just a straight body.
I have been building up heat to knock it off. This technique is tricky. In building the heat the bottom connection is moving and when you drop water on the punty stopping turning makes the body move off center. Wonky.
I think one needs to build up heat on the bottom with the torch instead of overall heat in the Glory Hole.
