Bowls
Working on creating bowls.
I am liking the three gather on an ornament pipe for size. It gets a good amount of glass without too much weight and makes for a slightly smaller bowl.
gather. gather. color. gather.
get a good heat and shape with #8 swedish block.
Heat and blow while blocking to fill the glass up to the color line.
heat and hang down to stretch the neck
blow with the jacks angled down on the bottom end
blow with the back of the jacks pushing the center
heat and barely start the jack line
heat and blow with back of jacks controlling the size to desired diameter
heat and go upward with the piece to get it to slump down (think M and M shape)
heat and cut in the jack line deep, lean jacks outward to make a funnel shape with the piece
heat and use jacks tips on just the bottom of the piece while blowing to make the bottom round to desired shape
Heat and heat
Transfer using a dome punty
heat and straighten
heat and open with the jacks way low on the back end following the funnel shape. Spread the blades to open the piece
heat and go in with parchoffi sticks to open
four points of contact
heat
four points of contact opening the blades and moving outward from the bottom of the piece toward the lip
heat and adjust cool lip with blades on the outside of the piece.
heat water on the punty and knock off

Friday Bowl and Vase
Friday night we had a dinner party group into the studio. They watched us work for a while and then went out to eat at Joey's Pizza down on Film Row. Great little group.
I made a bowl with Sargasso Green and white and a jade lip wrap. The white was picked up in a line and then the optic mold to twist the color. Four gathers with the color on the third gather.
Then I made a matching vase.

Bowl
There was a 30th birthday party at the building on Friday evening. Roy and I worked. He made a nice maccia style bowl. I made a ruffle bowl.
Blue Steel bar color drop
Gather and 160 Ivory bit wrapped around and around the piece. Gather on top of that.
Cookie foot
and Spun out at the top for a nice ruffle.
