I am an educator. I opened Blue Sage Studios in March of 2003 with the help of friends and family. My first glassblowing experience occurred in 1999 in Santa Fe, New Mexico in my Aunt Connie's hot shop. I returned to Santa Fe over Christmas Break in early 2002 and again Spring Break 2002. John Trubey, Patrick Morrissey and myself began building equipment. Nearly a year later we turned on the furnace and it stayed going. After a move in 2007 we have been at our current location for nearly five years (May 2012).
My experience with glass has been a lot of trial and error. I have had the pleasure of attending conferences and watching some of the best glass artists in the world work. I have taken a few intensive classes on glassblowing and hope to continue to develop professionally along those lines. Several of the fellows in the studio have taken classes and have brought back new techniques and ideas and have developed themselves as artists.
The studio operates today with a lot of assistance. I am forever grateful for the support of those individuals who make it possible.
